Kaiser Bridge

Kaiser Bridge

The Kaiser Bridge is located beneath the Achilleon estate, 2 kilometers north of Benitses, and is one of Corfu’s most famous sights.

The creator of the Kaiser Bridge was the German Emperor Kaiser Wüllelm II, in whose possession Achilleion passed in 1907. William wanted direct access to the sea and his Bridge secured this. The bow of the Kaiser Bridge was destroyed by the Germans during World War II because they could not pass their Heavy Weapons under the bridge.
